The last day of World Mastercard Fashion Week marked my final day backstage as Lead Nail Artist for Essie Canada. Bittersweet, action-packed and perfectly polished, here is how it went.

Before the models graced the runway, before they raised a zipper or shut a clasp. Before the final coat of mascara was brushed, before the last press-on nail applied. Before the calm chaos of backstage erupted, before the hoards of fashion gods and victims poured into the venue. Before the nails were arranged in perfect rows of ten, before the polish was blended and painted.
Before World Mastercard Fashion week could begin, decisions had to be made, designer meetings arranged and a look, complete with a killer set of nails, had to be chosen. Here is how it went.

Suspense. That, of course was my reason behind keeping you waiting so long. It’s honestly the best. Ask anyone who has seen a horror film. The best part is never the moment after the blonde is slain in the shower or after the girl jumps out of the TV screen. It’s in those nail-biting (dont-you-dare!) moments before, when all goes quiet and you know something awesome is going to happen. I hope this is worth it…
